good riddance 2003

Today while the world is busy compliling “Best Of” lists for 2003, I want to take some time to say “Good riddance 2003, we can’t get rid of you fast enough”. This year didn’t have many redeeming qualities for me and Brian. Although it did have some high points, such as the birth of Stella (the cutest baby ever), overall it started off really bad and never got much better. Here, so that we con look back on it later whenever we think things aren’t going well, is the list of the top ten things we’re glad to leave behind...…

women in web standards

There is a lively discussion over at StopDesign on the lack of female voices in the web standards community. I can’t wait to dive in to all the new sites that are showing up there. I have been thinking about this for a while, I think ever since it became pretty obvious through the CSS Zen Garden that men were in a large majority. As to why this is the case, I really think that women are probably less vocal than men on this topic in their blogs, etc, not that there aren’t many women designing with standards. There are...…

back from the blue

Haven’t posted in a while. Last month was crazy for me, as Brian had a scare with his health, and I am applying for a new job. Added to that, we had the family over for Thanksgiving, a sick cat, and the brakes going out on the car. This conversation sparked a bout of depression that...…

new toys

Well, I am enjoying my new toys. Panther is elegant, and I’m finally satisfied with my mail client. Mail 1.3’s threading is even better than what I’ve seen in other apps. Exposé is going to make my life a lot easier, especially when developing web sites. I tend to have about 50 windows open at once while I’m working on a site, and now it will be much easier to switch between them. Together with font book (finally a way to manage fonts without paying out the nose for it!), designing sites should be a lot more efficient. The new...…

panther

Well, I broke down yesterday and ordered Panther. I will have a lighter wallet, but I’m a sucker for new software. I’m hoping that it will be athe answer to all my mail woes. Plus, the fast user switching sould finally convince Brian not to clutter up my desktop with all his junk (yeah, right). Anyway, I will be watching my mailbox closely on the 24th. And I’ll probably be up late installing and playing. In other news, I haven’t posted much lately beacuse in the past 2 weeks I’ve been home sick for 4 days and in West Virginia...…
